Why Raw Honey Is Better Than Store-Bought
The Difference is in the Processing
When you buy a standard plastic bear of honey from the grocery store, you're often getting a product that has been pasteurized (heated to very high temperatures) and ultra-filtered. This process strips away the natural pollen, enzymes, and antioxidants that make honey a true superfood.
At Queens Hive, we do things differently.
- Never Heated: We lightly warm our honey only to hive temperature to make bottling possible, preserving all the delicate floral notes and living enzymes.
- Unfiltered: We use only a coarse strainer to remove the beeswax caps and bits of propolis, while letting all the local Southern Indiana pollen pass straight through to your jar.
- Local Foraging: Our bees forage on local clover, wildflowers, and fruit trees, ensuring every batch captures a unique, local flavor profile you can't get from blended commercial honey.
Taste the Seasons
Because commercial honey is blended from hundreds of different sources, it always tastes the same. Raw, unfiltered wildflower honey changes flavor depending on what floral source the bees were visiting that week.
Try a spoonful of our raw honey and experience what real, unadulterated honey is supposed to taste like.
